Seed pelleting, supply & packaging options

Seed pelleting and its benefits
We also supply petunia, begonia, coleus and mimulus seeds as pelleted seeds (pellets). Seed pelleting is a process that offers the following benefits:
Pelleting increases the size of small, irregularly shaped seeds to 1.00–1.20 mm.
Pelleted seeds can be counted and packed by hand or machine and allow precision sowing by hand or with sowing machines.
Pelleted seeds allow the exact number of seeds required to be packed in each packet, as each pellet contains just one seed.
For companies packing seeds for the hobby market, pelleting makes it possible to offer high-quality, high-value seeds in precisely specified quantities, expressed as an exact number of pellets, making these seeds accessible to home gardeners.
Growers can easily sow and control the number of seeds in each plug tray cell.
End customers can easily check the number of seeds in the packet.
Seed supply and packaging options
Petunia hybrida, Begonia tuberhybrida, Begonia semperflorens, Begonia boliviensis, Begonia interspecific, Coleus blumei and Mimulus hybrida
Petunia, begonia, coleus and mimulus seeds are supplied both as raw (non-pelleted) seeds and as pellets. (Begonia boliviensis, Begonia interspecific and Begonia semperflorens FlowerBall F1 are available only as pellets.)
The raw seeds of these species are too small for use with sowing or seed-packing machines. Successful hand sowing of raw begonia seeds generally requires the expertise of professional flower growers or experienced home gardeners.
For seed packets intended for the hobby market, we recommend pelleted seeds (pellets). Pellets should not be packed directly into inner seed packets or pictorial seed packets, as they may be damaged or crushed during handling. We therefore recommend packing them in plastic vials.
The following packaging options are available

- 02

intended for larger quantities of pelleted seeds.
- 03
Plastic vials
designed to hold a small number of pellets and to be placed inside seed packets for the professional or hobby market. We offer vials in various sizes. The number of pellets per vial is specified by the customer.
Pelargonium × hortorum (Geranium), Salvia splendens and Catharanthus roseus (Vinca)
Geranium, salvia and vinca seeds are available only as raw (non-pelleted) seeds.
The raw seeds of these species are large enough for both hand and machine sowing, as well as for manual or machine packing. When packing seeds for the hobby market, they can be placed in an inner seed packet or directly into a pictorial seed packet.
Geranium seeds are supplied already scarified. Scarification is a process that weakens the seed coat, allowing seeds to germinate faster and more uniformly.
